Car Seat Installation
Car seats often seem like they are designed to trick you. Reading the manual doesn't always help either - it's like reading advanced legalese! Frequently we hear on the news that over 90% of car seats are incorrectly installed, and we worry about our own.
Rae has been a Certified Child Restraint Instructor-Technician (The Child Passanger Safety Association of Canada) for 3 years, and a Technician for several years before that. The members of her team are also all experienced technicians.
We would be glad to inspect or install your car seat for you so that you can be certain that it's been done correctly and your children are safe, and we can do it at your place or ours! **

Car Seat Safety
A properly installed car seat can reduce the risk of serious injury by 70% and death by 90%.Car seat clinics indicate that as many as 90% of car seats are installed improperly.
Common errors include not tightening the seatbelt and harness, and not properly using a tether strap when required.
Make sure your child is safe and secure, and is buckled up right. Children under 13 years of age are safest in the back seat away from all active air bags.
Best Practices:
- As with everything in life, reading the instructions is a must. Read your car seat manual and your vehicle manual to educate yourself on appropriate installation practices for your seat and vehicle.
- Children should be kept rear-facing as long as possible. The Minimum under the law is 10kg (22lbs) but some seats can be purchased now that will stay rear facing until 22.7kg (50lbs).
- At minimum, your child should be 10kg and able to walk unassisted before turning forward facing, however longer is better.
-
Older children should be kept in a 5 pt restraint until they are minimum 50 lbs & developmentally and emotionally ready to use a booster seat (meaning able to remain buckled in and seated upright even during sleep).
Never place ANY car seat (including a booster seat) in front of an active airbag!
